What is a local rank checker?
A local rank checker shows where a business appears in Google results for a search made from a specific place. It matters because local results change street by street. A business can sit in the top three from its own office and be invisible three suburbs away, and a national average hides that completely.

Why does my rank differ from what I see in my own browser?
Your browser knows where you are and what you have searched before. This runs the search from a neutral location with no history, which is closer to what a stranger sees.
Why only the top results?
Because below the top three in the map pack and the top ten organically, position barely affects the number of calls you get. Knowing you are 47th is not useful.
Can I track this over time?
